Generation Baby Boomers
The generation, baby boomers, is among the largest generations in world's history. Following the years from 1946 to 1964, more than 3 million babies came to America. Today's estimation of a number of baby boomers is somewhere around 77.4 million with ages from the mid 40s to the mid 60s. It shows that one part of the generation baby boomers is currently in midlife while the second part is entering or has already entered retirement.
The entire American culture was going through a number of changes as the generation baby boomers, was growing up. Many from that generation were too young to remember the Korean War, but there were groups of them which experienced the Cold War and the role of nuclear weapons. A lot of them recall other significant events like the Cuban Missile Crisis when the country was on the edge of war with the USSR. There were other famous historical events that some part of the generation baby boomers might remember like the assassination of Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy and John F. Kennedy. Some of them clearly bring to mind events like the resignation of President Nixon, Watergate and the draft for the Vietnam War.
The generation baby boomers has left a deep and broad impact on American history. They were able to see the Women’s Rights Movement and the Civil Rights Movement, as well. The Vietnam War devastation and suffering were not that far away also, because it was seen daily on television. Both, President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush belong to the generation baby boomers.
